About Alina

Alina Quarin (she/they) is an award-receiving Intimacy Professional from Port Moody, BC (the unceded territories of the kʷikʷəƛ̓əm, səlilwətaɬ , xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh, q̓ic̓əy̓, qʼʷa:n̓ ƛʼən̓, qiqéyt and Stó:lō First Nations). As a little girl, Alina fell absolutely in love with the magic of musical theatre after being fortunate enough to see the West End production of Wicked, and she vowed then and there to be part of making that magic happen. Alina began their career in entertainment training as a musical theatre performer, and attended Capilano University’s Musical Theatre program immediately after graduating high school.

Things don’t always go as planned. Alina left Capilano with a year remaining in her program, and started to set her sights on other ways she could be around the performing arts. After taking a year off, they returned to Capilano for the Arts and Entertainment Management diploma program and got a well-rounded education in everything from venue management to grant writing, and their practicum internship lead them to spend three years working as an executive assistant in talent management. This is where her artist-forward approach began, and advocating for artists and ensuring their safety became the part of her career she was most passionate about. Alina works in a somewhat similar position now at Ballet BC, where she manages the intensives program and advocates for young dancers training with the company.

Alina learned about intimacy work in 2020 and immediately began searching for how they could begin their training. She started her journey with Intimacy Directors & Coordinators (IDC) and then did her practical components with Principal Intimacy Professionals (PIP). They sought out as many pathways as possible to broaden their training and apply their artistic experience to intimacy work, including extensive training in areas such as gender and sexuality inclusivity, anti-racism, bystander intervention, anti-harassment, mental health first aid, and conflict resolution, with all emphasis being on actor safety and artistic storytelling. She has been continuing her self-study as she builds her resume with Vancouver’s many theatre professionals and emerging filmmakers. Expanding on their passion for sex education and consent-forward practices, Alina was honoured to be accepted to the Sexual Health Educator Certification program through Options for Sexual Health in 2025, and is currently in their practicum component. In her Sexual Health Educator practice, she specializes in teaching about STIs, puberty, and healthy relationships and decision-making.

Alina’s most favourite way to spend her time is in the rehearsal room. She specializes in working with young actors, and she is passionate about setting a precedent in creating safer work spaces that allow artists of all abilities and professional levels to express themselves freely. Bringing a collaborative approach to every rehearsal, they prioritize making positive connections with the artists they work with and creating a non-urgent, supportive space that emphasizes the boundaries of the performers while simultaneously uplifting the directors’ vision. Through this approach and her undeniable passion for the work that she does, Alina has built a reputation as the most sought-after intimacy professional for emerging artists in Vancouver. They have worked on over 30 productions since 2022, and can’t wait to take on more.
